Carmen A Gentry born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, felt the inclination for drawing and Painting at an early age. In 1989 joined The National School of Fine Arts (ENBA) To study arts.She graduated with the highest grade point average, she joined the art faculty of Santo Domingo Autonomous University (UASD) where she obtained a degree in graphic and advertising design. In 2005 she again joined the faculty to pursue a bachelors degree in Visual Arts, emphasizing painting. She graduated CUM LAUDE.
September 2021 she joined Milan Arts Institute Mastering Program where she found her voice as a professional artist and trained in different techniques that helped form her like a Mix Media Artist. Carmen Gentry has participated in countless exhibitions in her country, as well as here in the United States, and she has been awarded several awards and honorary mentions in different areas of her career. For her, Art has always been the way to learn about humanity’s history, and through her Artwork she wants to show how we can be connected to our Roots, to Mother Nature, and her creatures.
She is a Mix Media Artist who uses different materials to create her artwork, such as spray paint, stencils, acrylic inks and others. Carmen says: “my painting is a combination of techniques and experiments because after all an artist’s studio is like a laboratory”.
Carmen is married to Garry Gentry who is a prominent musician from Southern Utah and together they own and manage a beautiful Music and Arts Store (gentrymusicandarts.com), where they combine their talents and abilities to serve their community. In the future Carmen sees herself expanding her business and her art to the highest levels, to advertise her artwork around the world and to expand her art gallery and her art supplies shop.
